Minutes of Meeting #2

- meeting was called to order by the Chair, Bill Pleming at 11:30 hours.
- Still outstanding are the AGM Minutes, Financial Statements and Proposed Budget as approved at the AGM. These to be forwarded to GSU HQ. Maxine and Cheryl to action.
- Minutes of last meeting to be completed. Maxine to action and forward to Bill and Barbara.
- Jack to send pertinent website files to Barbara so she can get started on updating the local’s website.
- Bill reminded Exec about training courses coming up.
- Jack has provided details of new laptop and has purchased this on behalf of committee. He will upload available softward and set it up so that it is ready to go.
- Finance: Cheryl advised that cheques had been raised for the following:
i. $450.00 to Jack to reimburse him for cost of gift for retiring GSU Pres. Bob Graves
ii. $10.00 for Maxine for the cost of keys cut for GSU cabinet
iii. $1, 498.93 to Jack for the purchase of the new laptop
iv. $14.97 for the purchase of a packsack for the laptop, reimbursement to Jack
v. $37.00 to Bill for matching funds related to PSMA training at PSAC which he attended on Feb. 4/5 2006
vi. $150.00 to Gary Williams, member, is pending related to last strike activities. Previous mailings to his home have been returned.
- Area Council: last meeting was November/ 2005. Not a lot of information coming from them. Minutes should be posted on the PSAC Regional website but appear to be late in coming. Rand and Tom are attending reps and will report on issues and concerns raised at next AC meeting expected in early March.
- Grievances: there are two currently underway and Phil is handling both of these.
- Jack is preparing an information sheet on the local Exec to be posted to the updated website. The sheet will explain the duties of each Exec position so that members can obtain information about Union responsibilities. He is also rewriting the Terms of Reference and will include the locals by-laws.
- Jack recommended that we establish a log book for the use of laptop so that we have records of use and can advise members at the next AGM.
- Sept. 2008 – GSU Triennial Convention.
- March 14th, local presidents meeting in Nanaimo. Bill Pleming and Bill Anderson will meet with Phil and Elizabeth at PBS for the day.
